Biography
Where thoughtful design meets strategic thinking.
I’m Zoe Coats, a graphic designer who approaches creative work through both exploration and strategy. As a double major in graphic design and business administration at Colorado State University, I’ve developed a perspective that connects visual thinking with an understanding of audiences, markets, and long term brand growth. I’m interested in work that does more than look polished. For me, effective design begins with understanding the challenge at hand and developing ideas that communicate clearly and create real value.
My interest in this intersection of creativity and business started early. In high school, I worked at a small family owned antique store that was trying to rebuild after the pandemic. Wanting to contribute more than my role as a cashier allowed, I taught myself how to use Shopify and rebuilt the store’s website. I later began planning their social media and designing monthly email newsletters. Through that experience, I saw firsthand how thoughtful design and communication could help a business reconnect with its audience and grow.
Since then, I’ve continued building experience across publishing, marketing, nonprofit communications, and event design. At Tyndale House Publishers, I developed book cover concepts and extended them into promotional materials for book launches. In my role with the Association for Undergraduate Education at Research Universities, I lead the visual design for national conferences, creating cohesive materials ranging from signage and printed programs to presentation decks and digital graphics. Across these experiences, I’ve developed a process rooted in curiosity, careful thinking, and attention to detail, always aiming to create work that is clear, purposeful, and engaging.
